Peace Day Event, Saturday, 21st Septmber, 2024
Green Kordofan is a UK registered charity founded and run by Folkestone resident Raga
Gibreel. The charity offers sports, educational and personal development programmes to
over 1500 war-displaced children in Yida refugee camp in South Sudan, with the goal of
keeping them safe and preparing them for life beyond the camp.
With war raging in Sudan the country is facing a monumental humanitarian crisis with over
10 million people displaced, many of whom have crossed the border into South Sudan and
are seeing refuge in Yida. In an effort to meet the increasing need for its services and to
mark International Peace Day, Green Kordofan is holding an event on September 21 st at The Grand, The Leas, Folkestone, CT20 2XL .
Hosted by Raga Gibreel and award-winning actress Jessica Hynes, the event will include a
special screening of a new forthcoming international documentary feature set in Sudan. This
special preview event of this work in progress will be followed by a QnA with award winning
film makers. Refreshments will be available. Suggested donation £5 on the door,more details to follow soon
